On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, Food City is saying thank you to the people who have kept this country safe and free with a free meal. Food City’s own community events page lists a “Free Meal for Veterans” at the Food City Deli for Veterans Day, and the message is simple: veterans and active military members eat free on November 11. If you served, this is one of the easiest Veterans Day offers to use, because there is no coupon to print, no app to download, and no purchase required. You just show up at a Food City Deli with proof of service and your ValuCard.
Food City is a regional supermarket chain serving communities across Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, and Alabama, and its deli counters are a local favorite for hot, ready-to-eat meals. For Veterans Day 2026, the deli becomes the place where veterans and active-duty members are the guests of honor. The offer is a genuine free meal, not a percentage discount or a buy-one-get-one deal, which makes it stand out among Veterans Day restaurant offers. Because the details come straight from Food City’s own events listing, you can plan your November 11 visit with confidence, and you can pair it with other Veterans Day free meals in your town if you have time.
One important note: this is a one-day Veterans Day offer, not an everyday military discount. This article covers the verified November 11, 2026 free meal only. If you are looking for a year-round discount at Food City, check with your local store, because the company’s published Veterans Day listing does not describe an ongoing program.
Who is Eligible for the Food City Military Discount?
Food City’s Veterans Day free meal is for veterans and active military members. According to the company’s own events listing, the offer is open to “veterans and active military members” who have served, and the listing frames it as appreciation “to all of those who have served.” That means both veterans of past service and people currently serving on active duty qualify.
To claim the meal, you need two things: a Military ID card or other proof of service, and your ValuCard, which is Food City’s loyalty card. If you do not already have a ValuCard, sign up for one before November 11 so you are ready at the deli counter. Family members are not named in Food City’s Veterans Day listing, so plan on the free meal covering the veteran or active-duty member. If you are bringing family along, they can order and pay for their own meals while you enjoy yours free.
How Much Military Discount Does Food City Provide?
On Veterans Day, November 11, 2026, Food City provides a free meal from the Food City Deli to veterans and active military members. There is no percentage to calculate and no minimum purchase to reach. The meal itself is free for the qualifying service member, which makes this one of the most generous Veterans Day offers from a grocery retailer.
Because this is a single-day offer tied to November 11, the value is the full cost of the deli meal you receive that day. Food City has not published a dollar cap for the free meal in its events listing, so if you want to know exactly what the deli will serve you, ask at your local Food City Deli counter before Veterans Day. What is confirmed is the core promise: veterans and active military members eat free on November 11.
How to Claim the Food City Military Discount
Follow these steps to claim your free Veterans Day meal at Food City:
- Mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 11, 2026, and plan a visit to a Food City Deli. The offer is listed on Food City’s official community events page (https://www.foodcity.com/community/events/), which confirms the November 11 date.
- Before you go, make sure you have your ValuCard. If you do not have one yet, pick one up at any Food City store and register it ahead of time.
- Bring your Military ID card or another accepted proof of service, such as a veteran ID or discharge paperwork, so the deli team can verify your service.
- Head to the Food City Deli counter and let the team know you are there for the Veterans Day free meal for veterans and active military members.
- Present your Military ID or proof of service along with your ValuCard, and enjoy your free meal.
A quick tip: Veterans Day is a popular day for free meals, and deli counters can get busy around lunch and dinner. If you can, visit during an off-peak hour, and if you are traveling to a Food City you do not normally visit, call ahead to confirm the deli is participating. Food City’s listing says the offer is available at any Food City location, but a quick call removes all doubt.
